Vernon K. Tracy, 78, of Sebring, FL and formally from Jasonville, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008 in Highlands Community Hospital.
He was born March 22, 1929 in Farmington, Ill., the son of Franklin and Bertha Tracy.
Vernon was an U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean War. He retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons after 27 years of service at the Terre Haute Federal Penitentiary.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma (Guth) Tracy, who he married in 1950; three daughters, Debbie Thompson and husband Bob of Fairbanks, Becky Aaron and husband Anton of Brazil, and Beth Ann Scharff and husband Fred of Sullivan: Two sons, Mike Tracy and wife Dawn of Jasonville, and Mark Tracy and wife Rhonda of Cincinnati Oh; eight grandchildren, Angie Melchert, and husband Carl, Lori Pohlman and husband Brian, Cherri Medlose and husband Rodney, Travis Thompson and wife Bonnie, Jesse Aaron and wife Elvira, Mark Aaron and wife Dana, David Tracy and wife Candra, and Sara Beth Scharff, and seven great-grandchildren.
No services were scheduled at Vernon's request.
