Richard F. Brinson, 84, of Ocala, Florida formerly of Lyons passed away 11:10 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008 in Ocala. He was the son of Frank and Mary Catherine (Faulk) Brinson.
He retired in 1978 from NWSC Crane as a small weapons tester and was a 50-year plus member of the Switz City Masonic Lodge #676. After retirement he was a very important part of the Lyons community, donating land and money to the Lyons Community Church and support to the Lyons Senior Citizens Center.
Richard served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman guarding Japanese prisoners and was awarded many medals for his service.
Survivors include: his daughter, Eva June Brinson Chrisman and husband Lawrence of Ocala, FL; one son, Steven J. Brinson and wife Connie of Arlington, VA.; two sisters, Nina Roth and Helen Lee both of Wabash, IN; grandsons, Justin and Wade Fulford and Jose Antonio Brinson; granddaughter, Africa Alonso; great, grandsons, Christopher and Elijah Fulford, Adrian Pyle, Joshua, Ryan, and Jordan Brinson; great, granddaughters, Emma Rose Fulford and Kyla Brinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Catherine, son Dewayne, grandson Richard, twin brother Robert, brothers Denick, Wayne, George, and Bill, sisters Mabel, Anna, Betty, and Frankie.
Services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Lyons, with Steven J. Brinson officiating. Interment will be in Sandborn Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one-hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be conducted 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
