On May 28, 1950, he married Helen L. Duffroy.
He served in the US Army during World War II with the 11th Airborne in Japan and the Phillipines. He received four Bronze Stars. He was a farmer and a trucker, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Linton Church of Christ.
Survivors include: his wife, Helen; two daughters, Nancy (Terry) Mullis of Linton and Terri (Dale) Mayfield of Mexia, TX; two sons, Randy May of Spencer and Danny May of Linton; seven grandchildren, Andy and Kara Mullis, Chad and Scott May, Amanda Richardson, Nuran and Brent Mayfield and four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Carl Rex May of Jasper.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Walter May; and one sister, Pauline England.
The family has requested memorial contributions to be made to the Linton Church of Christ. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Friends may call at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Monday.
The service will begin at 1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home with Allen Buzard, Bro. Jerry Carmichael and Warren Shake officiating. Interment will follow at Stafford Cemetery in Sandborn with military graveside rites given by American Legion Post No. 22.
