Robert E. 'Bob' McKee, 82, of Sandborn, passed away Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
He was born on December 11, 1925, in Sandborn, to Elbert Ervin and Bonnie R. (Bicknell) McKee. On March 1, 1946, Bob married Ruby Marksbary and they had 5 children.
He served in the US Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a brick layer by trade, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the Sandborn United Methodist Church, Edwardsport Masonic Lodge #429 F & AM, the Marine Corps League, the Chosin Few, the Lyons American Legion Post #479, and the VFW.
Survivors include one son, Mike (Lucy) McKee of Brownsburg; three daughters: Mary (Budd) Eversman of Grove City, OH, Jeannie Powers of Pittsboro, and Julie (Tim) Bovenschen of Lyons; a daughter-in-law, Evelyn McKee of Brownsburg; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Eugene McKee of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruby McKee on July 12, 2001; one son, Robert D. McKee, and a brother, Harold McKee.
Friends may call at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday. At 1 p.m., Masonic Rites will be given and the funeral will follow with Rev. Tom Anderson officiating.
Interment will take place at the Sandborn Cemetery in Sandborn with military graveside rites given by American Legion Post #479 from Lyons.
The family has requested memorial contributions to be made to the Sandborn United Methodist Church or The Chosin Few, National Headquarters, 238 Cornwall Circle, Chalfont, PA 18914-2318. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
