Born Feb. 17, 1920 in Bloomfield, he was the son of Tom and Mollie (Flake)Groomer.
He worked at NAD Crane and retired from Resler Block Plant. He was a trustee and member of Pleasant Ridge Church, and a member of the Ridgeport Cemetery Board.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 68 years, Maxine (Jones) Groomer of Solsberry; children, Carol Ferguson and husband Tracy of Switz City, Mary Alice Davis and husband Pete of Solsberry, Nancie Lloyd and husband Bill of Bloomfield; grandchildren, Roger Leon Arthur of Bedford, Lisa Gaylle Abel of Bloomfield, J.R. Davis of Bloomfield, Dallas Todd Parsley of Solsberry, Jackie S. Parsley of Solsberry; great-grandchildren, Sabrina Smith, Nickie Arthur, Terence Arthur, Kayla Barnett, Emily Arthur, Jackie Lee Arthur, Dusty Arthur, Ashley Meek, Peyton Maxwell Davis, Dylan Parsley, Abigael Lynn Parsley, Mollie Adelyne Parsley, Olivia and Jarrod James; nine great-great grandchildren; and one brother, Everett Groomer of Bloomfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Elmer, Clyde and Kenneth, and a great grandson, Jeremy Arthur.
Services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Ridge Church in Bloomfield with Pastor Eugene Helms officiating. Burial will be in Ridgeport Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Jenkins Funeral Home, Bloomfield and from 10 a.m. until the hour Saturday at the church.
