Roy W. Bartlett, 80, of Bloomington, passed away Nov. 25, 2008 in his home.
He was born April 18, 1928 in Lawrence County to Olin "Shep" Bartlett and Mae (Lu Allen) Bartlett.
He was part owner of 4-R Quarry and loved many activities including: Racing Sprint cars in his younger years, restoring tractors, watching NASCAR races, and being a loyal fan of Jeff Gordon. He proudly served as a Military Police Officer in World War II.
He is survived by his dear friend and mother of their three children, Dollie (Barrow) Bartlett of Bloomfield; two daughters Diane Hillenburg of Bloomington, Sandy Wetzel of Bloomington; son, Jack Bartlett of Bloomfield; brothers, Robert Bartlett of Bloomington, Warren Bartlett of Bloomfield; eight grandchildren, Tara Johnson, Ryan Hillenburg, Brittney Harmon, Chase Wetzel, Macey Wetzel, Zach Kuehner, Katelynn Cherry, Tanner Bartlett; and eight great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Carolyn Sue Shumate, Lucille Meadows.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at Crossroads Community Church, Bedford, with Pastor Ken Ransom officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment immediately to follow in the family plot of Bartlettsville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Roy's memory may be directed to Bartlettsville Christian Church.
