He was a postal worker at the United States Post Office and was an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Jean (Perkins) Herron, of Indianapolisl two daughters, LeaRae Herron Rice and Jill (Jeff) Childress; a sister, Vera Moehlmann of Linton; and six grandchildren, Niki Herron, Michael VanMeter, Jaimie and Jake Childress and Hilary and Amanda Rice.
He was preceded in death by his parents & a son, Mark Herron.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home Linton Chapel, Rev. Mike Roth officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Conkle Funeral Home in Speedway and from 10 a.m. Thursday until the hour of the service at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton.
