Richard E. Ballard, 50, of Dugger, passed away Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born Oct. 31, 1958 in Linton, he was the son of Maurice and Rosella Fines Ballard.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served as a pilot and warrant officer. He was also a Dr. Father in the Greek Orthodox Church.
He is survived by his wife, Heidi Holmes Ballard; four sons, Justin (Sierra) Ballard of Indianapolis, Chris (Kim) Ballard of Washington, Kenneth (Katie) Ballard of Killeen, TX and Kevin Ballard, of Dugger; father and step-mother, Maurice and Amy Ballard of Fillmore; mother, Rosella Nance of Florida; sister, Brenda Ballard and niece Kimberly of Florida; step-sisters, Tammy Franke of Indianapolis, Tonya McGathey of Greenwood; sisters-in-law, Kristen Reynolds of Indianapolis, Irene Holmes of Georgia; step-brother, Craig Rose of Kentucky; brother-in-law, Guy E. Holmes, of Alabama; four nephews and two nieces.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Newkirk Funeral Home in Dugger with Pastor Kevin Thompson officiating.
Burial will be in Dugger Cemetery.
The Dugger American Legion will conduct graveside military rites.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday.
