LINTON POLICE DEPARTMENT
The Linton Police Department's activity log for Monday included one custody dispute/exchange, one structure fire, one accident with property damage, one lost and found, two medical/illness, three animal complaints, one suspicious vehicle/person and one harassment complaint.
* Dec. 7 -- Police investigated an accident involving one vehicle, one REMC pole and eight mailboxes around 5:10 a.m. Christopher R. Bovin, 25, Ellettsville, was westbound on County Road 300N at Bolton Rd. when he hit a slick spot and lost control of his white 1997 Ford Explorer. The vehicle spun 180 degrees and struck one utility pole owned by REMC and eight mailboxes on the south side of the road. The police report noted that the road conditions were very icy at the time of the accident. Bovin was not wearing a seatbelt but no injuries were reported. His physical status appeared normal. The total damage resulting from the crash was estimated to be $10,000-$25,000. LPD Officer Jayson Smith was the investigating officer. Jasonville Police Officer Ryan VanHorn also assisted on the scene.
* Dec. 8 -- A woman from Linton reported an incident of battery which occurred around 8 p.m. while she was in the Dollar General Store. She told an officer that she was smelling some candles when another person walked up to her and hit the left side of her face with a cell phone. Charges are expected to be filed. LPD Officer Debbie McDonald is the investigating officer.
