GREENE COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT
* Dec. 29 -- Charles McGuire, 46, Madisonville, Tenn, was arrested on a warrant and was being held without bond. Greene County Sheriff's Reserve Deputy Rick Marques was the arresting officer.
* Dec. 29 -- James W. Slater, 31, Jasonville, was arrested on a body attachment issued in connection with child support. He was released after posting $500 bond and scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 5.
LINTON POLICE DEPARTMENT
The Linton Police Department's activity log for Monday included one incident of breaking and entering, one report of shots fired, one accident with personal injury, one accident with property damage, one funeral escort, one lost and found, one medical/illness, four animal complaints, one assist to another agency, one attempted burglary, one theft-other, one abandoned vehicle and one traffic stop.
* Dec. 29 -- When LPD Officer Karl Jacobshagen and Reserve Officer Kyle Butler responded to a report of shots fired in northwest Linton, they discovered a father and son trying out a new Christmas present - a .22 cal. rifle. Police said the two individuals had set up a target and had taken safety measures but firing a weapon is not allowed within the city limits. No injuries or property damage was reported.
* Dec. 30 -- A drive-off theft of fuel was reported by the Petro Plus gas station. A suspect in a black car came into the store and paid for cigarettes with a credit card but failed to pay for $19 worth of gas. The suspect was caught on a video surveillance camera and the store was able to provide police with the credit card slip. LPD Officer Jayson Smith is the investigating officer.
