Lee was born in Lyons, on Nov. 12, 1915, to John and Daisy (Fisher) Lee and was the youngest of seven siblings. His parents and siblings precede him in death. David was married to Violet O. Begerman on November 11, 1939. They were married 49 years until her death in 1988.
Four children were born to this union. Judith Diane Ketchem of Indianapolis, Stanley Marshal Lee of Orion, Michigan, Ernest David Lee ( Donnetta) of Columbus, and Kenneth Ray Lee ( Rose) of Worthington, all of whom survive. David was blessed with six grandchildren: Monica Stevens ( Bruce), Rhonda Lenning ( John), Doug Ketchem, Dee Dee Davis ( Mike) , Vincent Lee ( Jennifer), and Dixie Cullison ( Josh), eight great, grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
David was a farmer in Greene County his entire adult life. Although his formal education was limited, David was a self-taught carpenter, plumber, mechanic, and electrician. He shared those skills with anyone in need. Following his retirement from active farming, David busied himself with woodworking projects, continued gardening and was ready to play cards when the opportunity was available. He was a member of the Lyons Community Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009 at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Lyons with Rev. Samuel Hill officiating. Interment will be in Switz City Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
