John M. Fry, 66, of Linton, died at 4:10 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009 at his son's residence in Dugger.
He was born Nov. 15, 1942 in Clay County, the son of George and Doris Lucinda Michaels Fry.
He traveled to the Chicago area as a young man and learned the trade of millwright. He worked at several manufacturing businesses.
John enjoyed hunting, fishing and tending to his vegetable garden. He was also a caregiver to his son, John, Jr.
Survivors include: the mother of his children, Emma Ellen Fry; his three sons, Johnny Fry, Jr., Jesse (Wanda) Fry of Linton; and Jack (Paula) Fry of Dugger; six grandchildren, Jessica Wright, Jesse Frye, Jr., Julia Fry, Jackie Markle, Joshua Whitman and Kelsey Whitman; three great-grandchildren; five brothers, James (RuthAnn) Fry, Warren (Carolyn)Fry, Wayne (Alice) Fry, George (Dawn) Fry, Ray (Sandy) Fry; four sisters, Barbara Peavler, Edna (Larry) Thomas, Patricia (Lawrence) Hughes, Nancy (Bill) Richey; and a half sister, Betty (Paul) Page; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dean Fry; an infant sister, Dorothy Jean Fry; and his son, Ronald Lee Fry.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home in Clay City with Rev. Jim Hibbard officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday and prior to services on Monday.
