Born on March 10, 1936, in Bloomington, he was the son of Kenneth and Hilda Fern (Hudson) Calvert. Losing his father at a young age, he was raised by his mother and Roy Hauser.
Kenneth was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He later worked as a truck driver for UPS for 40 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of Teamsters Local #710 of Chicago, IL, the Switz City Baptist Church, American Legion, the Vincennes VFW, and the Linton Ladies Civitan Club.
Survivors include his companion of 21 years, Mary Lou (Need) Walker of Switz City; two sons, Donald Calvert of Indianapolis and Joseph Calvert of Vincennes; three daughters: Vickie Lynn (Doug) Evans of Greenfield, Debbie (Kelly) Rusher of Switz City, and Wanona Calvert of Vincennes; five Grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Betty) Calvert of Worthington.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lisa Gayle Calvert; and two brothers, Wilbert and Delbert Calvert.
Friends may call at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2009. The funeral will begin at 1 p.m. with Brother Nick Moore officiating. Military honors will be given by American Legion at the funeral home. Interment will be conducted at a later date.
The family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Switz City Baptist Church or the Linton Ladies Civitan Club. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
