Madeline Poole, 77, of Worthington passed away at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
She was born in Terre Haute on March 2, 1931, the daughter of Herbert D. and Elsie Pearl (Overton) Cook.
She retired from Crane after 20 years of service, and worked seven years at Walmart in Bedford. Madeline had recently moved back to Worthington from Bedford. She will be missed by family and friends.
She is survived by one daughter, Karen (John) Hostetter of Worthington, one son, Derek (Charolette) Helderman of Linton, brothers Norman Cook of Carmel and Marvin Cook of Bremerton, WA, a sister, Lana Detro of Indianapolis, four grandchildren, Troy and Mitch Hostetter, Tamara Skinner, and Michael Helderman, one great-grandson, Zane Hostetter, four step-children, Ralph and Danny Poole, Vicki Woods, Zella Reynolds, several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold Poole on Sept. 8, 2008, former husband, Charles "Tom" Helderman, and one son, Rodney Helderman on Oct. 20, 2007.
Funeral service will be at the Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington at noon Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, with the Rev. Colin Cress officiating.
Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at the Mitchell Cemetery.
Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday until the time of service.
