Jimmy Joe Robertson, 78, of Linton, passed away at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009 at Glenburn Nursing Home in Linton.
He was born in Sullivan County on Aug. 10, 1930, the son of Ralph Robertson and Lillie Plummer Robertson.
He was a retired construction worker, and worked for Local 741 in Bloomington for 50 years. As a young man he worked in his parents business, Robertson Creamery on south Main St. in Linton. He graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1948. Jim loved to hunt and fish.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia "Jenny" Robertson of Linton, two sons, Ed Robertson and wife Cheryl of Linton, Rodney Robertson and wife Cindy of Richmond, one step son, Jeff Jones and wife Jane of Winslow, Ind., two daughters Connie Sue Fulford and husband Jim of Linton, Alice May Chapeliene of Keeler, Calif., two step daughters, Lisa Burch of Terre Haute, and Michelle Flynn and husband David of Dugger, one brother, Vannie Robertson and wife Lana of rural Carlisle, nine grandchildren, five step grandchildren, six great grandchildren, five step grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service Feb. 14 from 2-4 p.m. at the Glenburn Nursing Home with Chaplin Patty Meyers officiating.
Newkirk's Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
