Harry "Sam" Clayton, 80, of Bloomington, passed away at 1:55 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009 at Bloomington Hospital.
Born March 20, 1928 in Koleen, he was the son of Frank and Zella (Holmes) Clayton.
He was a stone cutter for Tucker Stone Quarry in Bloomington retiring after 30 years of service. He was a member of the South Union Christian Church and the Kirkville Lions Club.
Surviving relatives include: his wife Cora Sue (Cullison) Clayton whom he married August 6, 1955; one daughter, Karen Lynn Cole of Bristol, Va.; a special niece, Heather Kirkman of Bedford; brother, George Clayton of Connersville; sisters, Bertha Murphy of Vincennes, Ruby Baker of North Carolina, and Ruth Pruett of Unionville; grandchildren, Emily Schweitzer, Amanda Kirkman, and Erica Kirkman; and one great, granddaughter, Claire Schweitzer.
He was preceded in death by one son, Harry Steven Clayton, his parents, four brothers, and five sisters.
Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009 at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. Jimmy Cain and Rev. Glen Stidd officiating. Interment will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in rural Bloomfield.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the South Union Christian Church or the Lions Club.
