M. Louise Humphreys, 92 of Evansville and formerly of Linton, died Saturday morning, Feb. 14, 2009, at the Deaconess Hospital Main Campus in Evansville.
She was born in Junta, West Virginia on November 26, 1916, the daughter of John Miller & Florence Rose (Keatley) Hsarvey. Louise worked for 11 years at the 3-D Store in Linton. She was a member of the Saron United Church of Christ in Linton where she participated in the Saron Women's Guild. She was also a member of Delta Theta Tau in Linton. She had worked with the Girls Scouts in earlier years. She attended the St. Peter's United Church of Christ for the past several years.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Humphreys Lucas of Evansville; a brother, James Harvey of Bluefield, West Va.; a sister, Nancy Bailey of Princeton, West Va.; a grandson, Alex (Noel) Lucas of Nashville, Tenn.; a granddaughter, Jill Lucas of South Bend, and a great-grandson, Grant Lucas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harold Humphreys on Feb. 16, 1996; two brothers, John and Robert Harvey; a sister, Alma Akers; a brother--in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Annabelle Humphreys; and an individual who was like a brother-in-law, Wilson Hixson.
Graveside service will be held at the German Memory Hill Cemetery in Linton at 2 p.m. (EST) Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, with Reverend Karen Lipinczyk officiating.
Visitation will be held at the Welch & Cornett Funeral Home, 140 E. Vincennes St., Linton, on Tuesday from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m.
Mrs. Humphreys' family would like to express their gratitude to the friends and staff at Solarbron, and the nursing staff of Deaconess Hospital.
