Gertrude F. Bond, 91 of Linton and formerly of Brazil, died at 6:55 a.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton following a brief illness.

She was born in Hadleyville, IN on September 26, 1917 to Elmer W. and Anita (Moyer) Cooksey.

As a young girl she was raised on her family's farm on Co. Rd. 400 North in Greene County. She attended Coal City and Switz City high schools. As a young lady she worked for REMC in Bloomfield. Following her marriage to Roy Bond March 26, 1946 they moved to Brazil where Gertrude began working at Kroger's for several years and later Pell's Bargain Mart where she retired in 1982. She was a life time member of Nine Mile United Methodist Church and attended the Assembly of God in Brazil.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roy Bond and three brothers Paul Cooksey, Alva Cooksey and Earl "Jake" Cooksey and one sister Belva Garrigus.

Survivors include her three sons David Bond and wife Bambi of Greenwood, IN, Rev. Ford Bond and wife Rev. Jan of Plainville, IN and Rev. Curtis Bond of Brookville, IN; grandchildren: Amy Bond, James Bond, Lori Victoriano, Jessica Bond, Larissa Colombo, Leah Spradlin, Leslie Bond; great grandchildren: Adrianna Martinez, Mario Garcia, Abraham Victoriano, Yadier Victoriano, Audrey Colombo, Riley Spradlin; sister Ruth Nolting; two former daughters -- in -- law Sonnie Bond and Raelene Bond as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Services will be at Lawson -- Miller Chapel Thursday March 5, 2009 at 11 a.m. with her son Rev. Ford Bond and brother -- in- law Rev. Harold Nolting officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and again Thursday from 7:30a.m. until time of services.
