An appeal to the public for assistance helped to locate a 16-year-old Newberry girl who was reported missing Thursday to Indiana State Police.

Indiana State Police at the Bloomington Post announced at about 6 a.m. on Friday that Danielle Blackmore and a 19-year-old male had been located in Boone, Tenn. -- located near the Tenneesee-North Carolina line.

"Trooper Jonathan Hart has been given information via telephone that both the missing juvenile Danielle Blackmore, 16, and George Da Schake, 19, are in Boone, Tennessee," Indiana State Police Public Information Officer Sgt. Curt Durnil said in a statement released to the media.

Blackmore's parents picked up the girl later in the day.

"Danielle Blackmore is back in the custody of her parents. At this time, there are no pending charges against DaSchake in reference to his involvement with her being a missing juvenile because she went willingly with him," Durnil told the Greene County Daily World on Friday evening.

Boone is located in northeastern Tennessee about 450 miles from Linton, between Kingsport and Johnson City.

The Indiana State Police Post at Bloomington began investigating the report of the missing juvenile girl after a missing persons report was filed by her mother.

A news release and two photos of Blackmore were issued by ISP to the media at about 12:20 a.m. on Friday.

"Danielle was last seen by her mother when she told her she was going to spend the night with a friend from that area. That was at 6 a.m. on Wednesday. Her mother became concerned when she failed to contact her over the course of March 11 and then again throughout the day on March 12," according to Durnil's news release.

The state police spokesman said investigators determined that Blackmore was in the company of a male acquaintance from Indianapolis.

In an effort to locate the missing girl, the state police utilized the "A Child Is Missing" (ACIM) reverse telephone notification system.

"ACIM works by contacting all hard wired telephone numbers within specified postal zip-code areas. Normally the zip codes called are located within the area and surrounding zip-code areas from where the child was reported missing or from where they were last seen. The zip codes called by ACIM were located in and around Danielle's Newberry residence," Durnil explained.

  • Why are they taking so long to post the info and pics if a girl is missing???? I would think that they would want the info out as quickly as possable, I know I would if it was a member of my family. I hope all turns out fine for the girl and her family.

  • It looks to me as though she may have run off with her boyfriend, find him and you will probaly find the girl. At least i hope that is the case and she has not been abducted. Prayers go out to the family.

  • im sure the paper did not have any pics of the girl to post right away......if it were my family I would also want the information out there as soon as possible but I would also want the right information as well.

you should just be grateful that we have a local news source available to to get the information out to the public PERIOD!

lets all hope and pray that this girl is found and everything turns out ok and the worse is just the girl just grounded when she gets home.

  • I do think that the reverse 911 call for the amber alert is a good idea. I just have a couple of questions/concerns. 1. Why did I receive a reverse 911 call last night and my next door neighbor didn't? 2. The call came at 10:45pm. Is there a cut-off time as far as how late the calls can be made, just thinking especially of the older people that it might really scare at that time of night?

  • Danielle is one of my best friends. We were worried sick when she took off. I'm just glad that she is back home. Her parents are plenty mad, but they're happy that she's back.
