Charles Kenneth Jones, rural Farmersburg, died at Sullivan County. Community Hospital in Sullivan at 10:42 a.m. April 8, 2009.

Born on March 23, 1929 in Washington, IN, he was the son of Harold Leroy and Lillian Ann (Walford) Jones.

He retired in 1973 after being a letter carrier for 22 years.

He was a member of Shelburn Masonic Lodge # 368, National Association of Letter Carriers, and he attended the Farmersburg Senior Citizens. He especially enjoyed fishing, reading and genealogy.

He married his wife and lifetime sweetheart, Johneen (Swickard) Jones on May 28, 1954 and she preceded him in death on October 23, 2004.

He is survived by three sons, Joseph G. Jones and his wife Karen of Sullivan, Charles R. Jones and his wife Dawn of Shelburn, and John W. Jones and his wife Bonnie of Odon. He has a sister-in-law and her husband, Joanna and Don Hamrick, close friends Bob and Shirley Johnson, grandchildren Miriah Jones, Bryan and wife Savilla Jones, Mirisa Lower and husband Steven, and Debbie Jones; step-grandchildren Angela Gallagher , Charles Norton, Vicki McBride, Rachel Souders, Laura Ridge, and Spencer Ridge; and two great grandsons Joshua Ryan Lower and Jason Kenneth Jones. His brothers and sisters are Carl W. Jones, Robert T. Jones, Wayne A. Jones, Mildred R. Padgett, and Audrey A. Cooley.

He was also preceded in death by brothers, William Leroy, Donald, Dale, and an infant brother.

Funeral service are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 11, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel in Terre Haute

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday with Masonic memorial services at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Nyes Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in his memory be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
