Ralph L. Kirchoff, 81, of Vincennes, passed away April 8, 2009 at 11:52 a.m. at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.

He was born May 5, 1927 in Edwardsport, the son of Emil and Hilda Pepmeier Kirchoff.

He graduated Edwardsport High School and he married Wilma J. O'Dell, and they made their lives together for nearly 60 years until her death in December of 2005. He made his career in the banking industry. He started Tri State Insurance Agency that specialized in credit insurance. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends in his retirement years and was devoted to his family and their endeavors. He enjoyed football and was an avid Colts fan. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army serving in Panama with the Military Police. He held memberships in the Masonic Lodge # 474 in Oaktown where he was a 32nd degree member. He was a member of the Hadi Shrine, Elks and the St. John United Church of Christ.

He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Bruce Kirchoff and his wife Mary Ann, of Vincennes, Linda Kirchoff Anderson and her husband Les of Indianapolis, and Rick Kirchoff of Vincennes. He was blessed with seven grandchildren and their spouses, Scott and Lori Kirchoff, Julie Kirchoff, Jason and Elizabeth Kirchoff, Bryan Anderson, Kris and Caron Anderson, Jamie and Kendra Barber and Brooke and Michael Horn. He was also proud to be a great grandfather to Cole and Zachary Kirchoff and Lola Jane Anderson. A brother, James Kirchoff of Linton and several nieces and nephews also survive him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma J. Kirchoff; his parents; and two sisters, Carolyn Richter and Ruth Kirchoff.

Funeral service will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Friday at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home in Vincennes with Rev. Dr. Kate Lambertson officiating. He will be entombed next to his wife in the Tower Mausoleum privately.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
