Cards beat Miners in SWIAC battle

Cody Pearson pitched a two-hitter and smacked a home run as Bloomfield defeated host Linton-Stockton 7-1 in a Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference baseball game Saturday at Roy Herndon Field.

Pearson struck out 11 and allowed one earned run to pick up the complete-game victory.

Ryan Montgomery also homered for the Cardinals, who broke the game open with five runs in the top of the fourth inning.

The Cardinals improved to 5-4 overall, 1-0 in the SWIAC.

Ty Scott hit a solo home run to account for the lone Miner tally.

Ty Trent was the starting and losing pitcher. Luke Knight and Scott both threw in relief.

The Miners slipped to 3-4, 0-1 in the SWIAC.
