Lady Miners rally come up short

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

The Linton-Stockton softball team scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning but their rally fell one run short as visiting Edgewood held on for a 4-3 win in a non-conference game.

Stephanie Fougerousse was the starting and losing pitcher for the Lady Miners (1-3). She gave up four hits, walked six batters and fanned nine batters.

Katie West and Hali Murray paced the Miner offense with a pair of singles each. Murray also drove in a run and scored two of the three runs. Savannah Mason registered the only other Lady Miner hit with an RBI single.

"We finally settled down in the seventh inning and started putting the ball in play and things started coming together for us offensively but we just came up short," Linton-Stockton head coach Jill Flater said. "We need more than five hits to win games."

The Lady Miners will be back in action Thursday when they travel to Union (Dugger) for a make-up Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference game at 4:30 p.m.
