Alfred "Lee" Utt

Alfred "Lee" Utt, 80, of Bloomington, died Sunday, April 26, 2009, at Bell Trace Health and Living Center.

Born Dec. 3, 1928 in Bicknell, he was the son of Robert and Laverne (Salters) Utt.

Lee was a registered land surveyor and a lifelong member of the Indiana Society of Professional Land Surveyors. He practiced in the Bloomington area from 1970 to 2008. He was the cornerstone of his family and to the surveying community.

Lee enjoyed being with his family and friends and sharing his life experiences. He also enjoyed the outdoors, surveying, and mowing his lawn on his John Deere tractor.

He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the community. He was a great influence to his grandsons, and he profoundly passed along his legacy to them. They both have followed in his footsteps being licensed land surveyors in the state of Indiana.

Survivors include his best friend of 47 years, Netha I. (Hollars) Utt, two daughters, Diana O'Rourke of Metamora, IN; Kathy Robbins of Bloomington, two son-in-laws, Daniel (Dan) O'Rourke, Frank (Robbie) Robbins III, one sister, Robertine Croy of Greene County, one nephew, Wayne Adams, two grandsons, Eric Deckard, Jason Deckard, one step-grandson, Brian Masterson, three great grandchildren, Colin, Ryan, and Chloe Deckard, one step-great grandson, Maverick Masterson.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, Samuel "Pop" Reeves, and a nephew, Garrett Adams.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lee Utt Scholarship fund. A scholarship at Vincennes University for the advancement of future land surveyors. In care of Vincennes University Survey Dept., Vincennes, Indiana 47591.
