Mary Ruth Noel Alsop, 90, of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2009.
She was born May 4, 1919 in eastern Greene County to Frank Noel and Stella Noel.
The family moved to Worthington, Indiana in 1922 where Mary Ruth grew up singing in church choirs, The Vested Choir, and later singing solo with the local dance bands. She loved music her entire life. In 1941, she married Ray D. Alsop of Linton, who was her sweetheart and husband for 39 years until he passed away in 1980.
First living in Linton and Terre Haute, Indiana, the family moved to Indianapolis in 1961 where she has remained.
She retired from Indiana National Bank in 1982 and made many friends in the 21 years that she served the bank at the 56th and Illinois Branch.
Baptized early in her life, she joined the Allisonville Christian Church in 1982 and has remained a loyal and active member. She also traveled widely visiting, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, and Panama.
Mary Ruth is survived by her son, Don Alsop; her brother-in-law, Don Elliott; sister-in-law, Norma Elliott; her sister-in-aw, Betty Newsom, all of Linton and her Sister-in-Law, Darlene Noel of Henryville. She is also survived by loving nieces and nephews around the state. Her love and advice will be missed by all.
Funeral service will be at Allisonville Christian Church in Indianapolis at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday and calling from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service. Contributions in her memory will be welcomed by Allisonville Christian Church.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan.
