Mary Elizabeth Gordon, 95, went home to be with her Lord on June 26, 2009, at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Penny Gordon of rural Lewis.

Mary was born July 9, 1913, in Sullivan County , the daughter of David Elmer Miller and Mary Ethel Miller.

She was a 1930 graduate of Worthington High School and a member of Hymera First Baptist Church. More recently, she attended Providence Baptist Church and Blessed Hope Baptist Church.

She is survived by three children and their spouses: Carl and Mary Gordon, of rural Shelburn, Jack and Penny Gordon of rural Lewis, and Claudia Sue and Dave Lofton of rural Shelburn, nine grandchildren, Teresa Gordon of Minneapolis, MN, Jason Gordon & wife Tabitha, Hymera, Amy Haskell & husband Jonathan, Solsberry, Rebecca Loewen and husband Derek, Frenchtown, MT. Chad Gordon, Lewis, Rachel Gordon, Lewis, Scott Lofton & wife Jamie, Farmersburg, Paul Lofton & wife Lori, Shelburn, Joe Lofton and wife Gayla, Shelburn. She also had 7 great grandchildren: McKaylynn Johnson, Austin Gordon, Tyler Gordon, Zachary Lofton, Paige Lofton, Kevin Lofton, and Tucker Lofton.

Her husband, Claud, preceded her in death June 8, 1988. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Ernest Miller.

Services will be conducted Tuesday, June 30 at 10 a.m. at Blessed Hope Baptist Church, with Pastor Darren McDonald, Providence Baptist Church, officiating.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at McClanahan Funeral Home in Jasonville. Burial will be in K of P Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Providence Baptist Church , Blessed Hope Baptist Church or Hospice of Sullivan County.
