He was born March 1, 1930, in Switz City, the son of John William and Bertha (Miller) Zimmerly.
He was a farmer. Harold enjoyed fishing and hunting and attending his grandsons' sporting events. He was a member of Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church in Owen County and was a Marine veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary Lou (Laughlin) Zimmerly of Switz City, to whom he was married Sept. 9, 1952; two daughters, Karen (Tom) Chambers of Linton and Kathy (Jim) Riggs of Lizton; a son, Brad (Kelly) Zimmerly of Switz City; and five grandchildren, Brandt (Clarissa) Zimmerly, Tyler (fiancÚ, Samantha) Zimmerly, Katryna Zimmerly, Caley and Jani Riggs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Irvas Marsh and Mary Alice Veatch; and a brother, John W. Zimmerly.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton with Elders Tommy and Kevin Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Chapel Cemetery near Newberry.
Friends may call from 5-9 p.m.Thursday and after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church through the funeral home.
