CW5 Ret. William F. "Sonny" Hinchman
CW5 Ret. William F. "Sonny" Hinchman, 42, died Friday morning, July 17, 2009, near Baghdad, Iraq in a helicopter crash.

He was born November 11, 1966 in Linton, IN, to Walter Jerry and Nina R. (Bosell) Hinchman.

Sonny graduated from Worthington-Jefferson High School at the end of the first term Dec. 1984 to enter the Army and started in Warrant Officer School. He then entered the flight program. He retired in April with 25 years service as a helicopter pilot.

For the last several years he has been stationed at Ft. Hood, TX. He attended the Baptist Church in Copperas Cove, Texas.

He is survived by his mother, Nina Hinchman, Worthington; three step-sons, Logan, Tanner and Cooper Brock, Copperas Cove; six brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Hall, Danville; Crystal (Daryl) Howard, Wichita, KS; Walter Jerry "Chip" (Parvin) Hinchman, Sparks, NV; Gloria ( Jay) Groves, Danville; Kirk (Jacquelin) Hinchman, St. George, Utah; John (Patty) Hinchman, Jamestown; special friend, Paula Cobb, Copperas Cove; several nieces and nephews; best friend, Ray Giganti, New York, who he served with for many years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Jerry Hinchman.
