J. W. "Pee Wee" Johnson, 77, of Worthington, passed away Friday morning, July 31, 2009 at his residence.

He was born June 12, 1932, in Crystal Springs, Mississippi to Bluett and Ruth (Smith) Johnson.

He retired from I.B.E.W. Local 1393 as a lineman on power line construction, after 43 years service. After Pee Wee retired he sold fruit and vegetables at the Linton Park. Pee Wee was serving on the Worthington Town Council and as Democrat Precinct Committeeman at the present time. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Member of Harmony Baptist Church, in Crystal Springs, Worthington Senior Citizens, 50 year member of Masonic Lodge in Lexington, MS and American Legion in Worthington.

He is survived by his wife, Lena (Rhyne) Johnson, Worthington; four sons, Edwin (Sue) Johnson, Crystal Springs, MS; Clarence (Cassandra) Johnson, Dugger; Chris Johnson, Switz City; Craig Johnson, Bloomfield; five grandchildren, Adam (Kayla) Johnson, Crystal Springs; Alex Johnson, Crystal Springs; Wyatt and Ashlee Johnson, Linton; Brenden Johnson, Bloomfield; one sister, Frances "Sis" (Dick) Griswold, Ocala, FL.; sister-in-law, Louise Johnson, MS,; mother-in-law Myrtle Rhyne of Mississippi.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gary; four brothers, Johnnie, Jack, C. G., and Bluett; and one sister, Catherine.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington with Rev. Colin Cress officiating.

Friends may call at Welch & Cornett 4-8 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m.Tuesday.

Masonic service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Worthington Cemetery.
