Rowlan W. Stanton, 92, of West Amboy, NY died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009 at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, NY.
He was born in in West Amboy, the son of the late Rowlan B. and Mabelle Williams Stanton.
He was a veteran of the Army Air Force from 1942 to 1946. He was an electrican for Camden Wire for 30 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Parish Presbyterian Church and was a founding member of the West Amboy Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of the Russell Horning American Legion Post No. 609 in Parish, NY, 40 & 8 Club, National Rifle Association, Mad River Club and Williamstown Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include: children, Cregg and Jeanne Stanton of Altman, NY, Nancy Wright of West Amboy and Cynthia Wright of West Amboy; grandchildren, Jennifer and Mike Trumble, Clark and Stephanie Stanton, and Alias Wright, great-grandchildren, Riley Trumble, Reed Trumble,Will Trumble and Anderson Stanton; and Indiana family, Marjorie and Lyman Stevens, Delores Hollingsworth, Wayne and Alice Anderson, Wendell and Delores Anderson, Abe and Barbara Anderson, John and Peggy Anderson, David and Heidi Anderson, Curt and Maye Anderson.
His wife, Virginia A. Stanton died Nov. 6, 2004. He was also preceded in death by five sisters, Dorothea Lord, Geraldine Salmon, Anges Jennings, Cleo Halsey and Volina Hrywnak.
Services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Harter Funeral Home in Parish, NY.
Burial was in West Amboy Cemetery.
