He was born Jan. 27, 1955, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, the son of Charles and Jane (Wilmarth) Hines.
He grew up in Switz City, graduating from Switz City Central High School in 1973. He graduated from Purdue University and worked as a Project/IT Manager for 20 years.
Ken enjoyed sports, especially basketball. His true passion was his children, as he focused on his family. He was kind and caring and a great listener. He was a member of Linton First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his parents, Charles & Jane Hines of Switz City; four children, Katy (Paul) Welch of Portage, Mich., Jacky (Nate) Denaway of Portage, Mich., Douglas Hines of Walled Lake, Mich. and David Hines of Plymouth, Mich.; two brothers, David (Diann) Hines of Auburn and Jim (Debra) Hines of Knarsbrough, North Yorkshire, England; a sister, Ellen (Tom) Sanders of Ellettsville; and five nephews.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15 at the Linton First United Methodist Church with Reverend Michael Alexander officiating.
Visitation is at 6:30 P.M. and also following the service.
