If a Scout has helped you, share your story

To the Editor:

I have the honor of serving as Scout Executive for the Boy Scouts of America - Hoosier Trails Council, serving 18 counties throughout South Central Indiana, including Greene County.

For many years, the staff and volunteers of this council have provided area families a very effective and low-cost character-building program for their children founded upon traditional, fun activities, and teaching worthwhile life skills.

Scouting helps to make our towns and cities good places to live and raise a family. People often share stories with me of the wonderful service Scouts and Scouters in their town have provided.

The year 2010 will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. In recognition of this milestone, we have created a National Hall of Leadership. Its purpose is to give recipients of an extraordinary good deed by a Scout or Scouter a way to thank and honor them -- and to encourage others to follow in their footsteps!

If you, or someone you know, has been the recipient of such a good deed from a Scout -- young or old -- I want to give you the opportunity to reciprocate with a good deed of your own.

Share your story by visiting the Hoosier Trails Council Web site, and click on the nomination link on the home page (www.hoosiertrailsbsa.org). Nominations will be taken through Feb. 8, 2010. Your nomination will honor someone special and help continue the legacy of Scouting leadership and service in your town!

Woman says thanks

for the great support

To the Editor:

Dear Area Church Friends,

It seems everywhere I go someone tells me I am on their prayer list at church. To hear that just thrills me.

I want to thank everyone for all the love and prayers. Having an entire community behind you really helps keep my faith strong.

I am done with radiation and have started my chemo. Your continued prayers will help me along the way. I know through him all things are possible.

God bless.

To the Editor:

I would like to say a special thank you to my family, Pastor Atkins, Pastor Bush, my church families and friends for all the prayers and cards during my bypass surgery and recovery.
