Norma "Kate" Kurzhal, 84, of Jasonville, died at 1: 37 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2009 at Sullivan County Community Hospital in Sullivan.
She was born Dec. 25, 1924 in Jasonville, the daughter of Clarence Thompson and Geraldine (McDonald) Thompson Hepler.
She married Herbert Calvin Pointer on Oct. 17, 1943. He died Sept. 5, 1967.
She was a homemaker and caregiver, attended Shakamak Community Church. Norma was a wonderful mother and grandmother whose family was the center of her life.
Survivors include: daughters: Sheila Wilder of Jasonville and Kathy Shaw of Terre Haute; sister, Velma Brady of Indianapolis, special sister-in-law: Mary Griffith of Jasonville, five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by her parents, first husband, Herbert Calvin Pointer, second husband Roy Kurzhal; and two brothers, Cloyse Hepler and Hugh Thompson.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the Shakamak Community Church.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shakamak Community Church on Hwy 48, west of Jasonville with Pastor Chris McKinney officiating.
Interment will be at North Shore Memory Gardens, Inc. in Coloma, Mich. on Thursday.
