Thanks for recent support

To the Editor:

Linton Community Food Pantry and Thrift Store have a lot of people to thank for our very successful, first time block party. We know you have read about it, but you can't quit talking about how exciting and rewarding to see the results.

Our number one thanks goes to our Heavenly Father for guiding our six partner church in one direction -- providing help to the less fortunate.

Thank you so much to the following businesses for support and help.

Greene County Daily World, Knights of Columbus, Tom Jones & City of Linton, Angell's Foods, WalMart, Southside Express, Superior Ice, Party Works from Washington, Cathy's Beauty Shop, Bonham's Appliances, LaMar Imaging, Jiffey Treet, McDonald's and all of the many volunteers that donated food, money, clothes, prizes and of course, your precious time.

We hope to make this an annual back-to-school event, and we're already working on ideas to improve and make it better.

Thank you to the community for coming out, seeing our facilities, and the purchases made in the thrift store. Pass the word to others, drop in on open hours and we can always use volunteers.

God has blessed us all, please give him thanks. Each of the six churches contributed so much and their doors are always open. If you have no church of choice, consider visiting one of these charitable churches, you will be welcome and The Lord will be very happy.

God bless.

NARFE

says thanks

To the Editor:

The Bloomfield chapter of the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) would like to thank all who participated in the recent annual multi-chapter meeting hosted this year by our chapter.

Approximately 60 members from the Bloomfield, Bedford, Bloomington, Seymour and Linton chapters attended the meeting in the IOOF lodge north of Bloomfield and enjoyed a good meal, entertainment and an address by the guest speaker Mr. Paul Johnson, the NARFE Region IV (Midwest) Vice President.

The local businesses, financial institutions and individuals who donated door prizes for the event have our special thanks. The day was blessed with good weather and everyone was able to enjoy the event in scenic Greene County.

Loren E. Wilson

President, NARFE Chapter 847
