She was born in Clinton on Feb. 18, 1917 to Andrew and Julia (Rataicik) Mengel.
Her occupation was mother and homemaker who loved each and every member of her family. Her hobby was quilting and she had made over 64 quilts, making sure that each family member had received one of her quilts as a gift and never having sold a single one of her quilting creations.
She was preceded in death by her husband Oral "Nig" Keaton on March 8, 1991.
Her survivors are a daughter and son-in-law of Jasonville, Linda and John Salter; a son and daughter-in-law of Prairie Creek Terrence and Sandy Keaton; a sister of Terre Haute Leona Green; two grandchildren Scott Keaton and Sue Ellen Keaton, three great-grandchildren Keaton Somuk, Abby Keaton, and Evan Keaton; and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will at 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church of which was a longtime member. There will be no visitation prior to services.
Burial will be in New Harmony Cemetery.
In keeping with her request, family and friends are asked to make contributions to either the St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church or to the charity of the donors choice.
