Lloyd R. Blume, our loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, has fought the good fight and finished the course to his heavenly home following a brave battle with brain cancer.

He was born near Linton, Indiana on April 7, 1931 and passed away in Houston on Sept. 2, 2009.

He lived an amazing life and accomplished much during his 78 year journey. He loved to travel and visited 49 states and numerous countries. Lloyd was a man of faith and beloved member of BridgePoint Bible Church. His faith in Christ remained strong during his battle. He loved his friends, and above all his family.

Lloyd graduated from Linton-Stockton High School in 1949. After graduating from Indiana Business College, Lloyd married his high school sweetheart Louise. He started working in South Bend where Steve and Greg were born. After six years, they moved to Houston for warmer weather and opportunity. Lloyd started Century Mortgage Company and Blume Insurance. Later, he started Lasco Properties with his son Steve and Blume Builders with both sons Steve and Greg. During the 1990's he operated Barrett Homes and Excel Real Estate Services. He continued doing real estate deals, negotiating and giving advice. He was known in the business world as a fair and loyal man that could be trusted on a handshake.

Lloyd leaves behind Louise White Blume, his beloved wife of 59 years. four sons: Steve, wife Lori; Greg, wife Dina; Keith, wife Sheila and Brad, partner Sean Rudolph of Houston. Grandchildren: Becky Blume Davis, husband Jared, Barrett, Heather, Benjamin, Brandon, Andrea, Amanda, Brian, Hannah, Brent, Joshua, Katelyn and Leigh'Ann. Great grandchildren: Will and Luke Davis.

Brother Muril Blume, wife Joan of Linton: sister Roma Kay Blume Stark of Simi Valley, Calif.; sister-in-law Virginia May Blume of Houston; Etta Mae Wright, husband Wayne of Linton, Shirley Turpen Sowers of Bloomington, Emmie White of Linton; brother-in-law Leo White, wife Angela of Bedford. Nephews: Gary Blume, wife Sue; Jeff Blume, wife Lisa; Wade Stark; Billy Don White, wife Connie; Tim Turpen, wife Kathy; Jeff Cox, wife Sandy; Frank Cox, wife Carolin; Todd White; Tony White, wife Tammy. Nieces: Ingle Hoffer, husband Kip; Anneliese Tomlinson husband Steve; Cyndee Turpen Meeks; Casey Turpen Niebrugge, husband Rick; Debbie Wright Putoff, husband Randy; Rhonda Wright Tuttle, husband Mark; Deidra White Hamilton, husband Jeff; Teresa White Newman, husband Scott; Kimberly Cox; Tracy White Hamilton, husband William. Great Nephews/Nieces: Jennifer, Keeno, Chris, Carrie, Caroline and Connor Blume, Cristina Hoffer and Summer & Grant Tomlinson and many, many more. Preceded in death by his father and mother A.W. and Geneva Blume of Linton, Indiana and his brother Lowell Blume. Also, mother-in-law Bessie White, brother-in-law Guy White and sister-in-law Doris White Cox.

He treasured his special friends at the Memorial City Heart Health Center where he exercised for 30 years. The family wishes to thank his caring and compassionate doctors, caregivers and friends.

A celebration of Lloyd's life will be held at BridgePoint Bible Church on Friday, Sept. 4 at 11 a.m. with a reception immediately following.
