Lawrence Lee May, "Shorty," 79, of Dugger, passed away at 7:01 p.m. on Friday Sept. 4, 2009 at Bloomington Hospital.
He was born in Greene County on April 23, 1930, the son of Eaily Edward May and Exie Cunningham May.
Lawrence was an Army veteran in the Korean War, a member of the Dugger American Legion Post 224, retired from Jackson Brothers Saw Mill in Linton, and was a member of the Bethel Community Church in Dugger.
He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly Meeks May in 2001, also two sisters, Betty Lois Koester and Catherine Koester, and an infant sister, three brothers, Loren Dean May, Bill May, and Luther Kenneth May.
Survivors include three sisters, Marcella Koester of Florida, Freda Hash of Bloomfield, and Thelma Micheal of Solsberry, one brother, James May of Ellettsville and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. today at Newkirk's Funeral Home with the Rev. Cletus Bough, and the Rev. David Ramsey officiating. Interment in the Dugger Cemetery with Military graveside services by the Dugger American Legion.
Friends called from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and before service today.
