Homer Lewis Helms, 79, of Spencer, passed away at the Residence at McCormick's Creek, Monday, October 12, 2009.
He was born Feb. 26, 1930 in Bloomfield, to Harvey Sr. and Mildred (Heaton) Helms.
Homer served in the United States National Guard for six years, worked in Customer Service for TWA for 32 years, and worked for Home Laundry in Bloomington for eight years. He was a member of McCormick's Creek Pentecostal Church.
Homer is survived by his wife of 26 years, Marilyn (Fields) Helms; two daughters Rita (Tim) Pruitt of Indianapolis, Vicki (David) Imes of Danville, IL; two step-daughters Roberta (Scott) Bruce of Ellettsville, Rebecca (Bill McCLoud) Brown of Bloomington; two step-sons Robert (Micki) Brown and Roger (Donna) Brown, both of Bloomington; two brothers, Harvey Helms Jr. and Ronald Helms; five sisters, Vada Clayton, Olive Vendeventer, Lorene Lindsey, Nancy Craig and Nellie Yoho; three grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren, and 12 step-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Oscar Helms; and three sisters Evelyn Hamlin, Dorothy James, and Margaret Leigh.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Friday at McCormick's Creek Pentecostal Church with Pastor Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Chambersville Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Thursday at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer, and Friday from 9-11 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to McCormick's Creek Pentecostal Church.
