Joy Anne VanHorn, 85 of Linton, formerly of Coal City died Oct. 12, 2009 at the Glenburn Nursing Home in Linton.
She was born Nov. 19, 1923 in Coal City the daughter of Charles W. VanHorn, Sr. and Minnetta Pearl VanHorn.
She graduated from Coal City High School and attended the John Herron Institute of Art in Indianapolis. Joy Anne was a talented artist. As a young girl she designed "Senior Cords". She lent her talent to the senior composite pictures and other high school activities. She worked for many years with the Atkins Photography Studio. She did colorization of photos and color corrections. She enjoyed making jewelry and did hand painted Christmas ornaments for family.
She was a member of the Coal City Church of Christ.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her two sisters, Mabel Tennant and Marie VanHorn; two brothers John B. VanHorn and Charles W. VanHorn, Jr.
Survivors include her 11 nieces and nephews; 26 great nieces and nephews; 26 great-great-nieces and nephews; five great-great-great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great-great-great-niece.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Coal City Church of Christ with Bryan Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Beech Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 9-11 a.m. at the church.
