Ava M. (Barnes) Weimer, 101, of Solsberry, passed away 5:38 p.m. Sunday, October 25, 2009 at Garden Villa in Bloomington.

Born August 16, 1908 in Solsberry, she was the daughter of James Wilson and Caroline "Lina" (Joseph) Barnes.

She was a retired school teacher in the eastern Greene county area and a member of the Solsberry Christian Church and the Retired Teachers Association. She was a graduate of Solsberry High School and Indiana University.

Surviving relatives include: her son, James Stephen and Janet (Rogers) Weimer of Solsberry; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Kirby George of Bloomfield and Jill Weimer of Solsberry; four great, grandchildren, Kelsey George, Devin George, and Mason George all of Bloomfield, and Joel Weimer of Solsberry; one sister, Edith Phillips of Bloomington.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen A. Weimer on March 17, 1996; her parents; one brother, Clifford Barnes; two sisters, Jeanette Jackson and Lois Hudson; and two infant brothers.

Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at the Solsberry Christian Church, with Jim Root and Stewart Cobine officiating.

Interment will be in Solsberry Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services Thursday all at the Solsberry Christian Church.

Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfiels is in charge of arrangements.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to the Solsberry Christian Church Building Fund or the Solsberry Cemetery Association.
