Born June 15, 1943 in Bloomfield he was the son of John Marcus and Evelyn Irene (Helms) Hamlin.
John David was retired from Crane, and was an active self employed woodworker. John David was a member of the Bloomfield Church of Christ, EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) and the Shawnee Airfield.
Surviving relatives include: his wife Patricia Lynn (Browning) Hamlin of Bloomfield; one daughter, Becky Long of Bloomfield; one son, Tony Hamlin of Avon; six grandchildren; two sisters, Karen LeCocq of Newberry and Lyndal Weir of Terre Haute; one brother, Daniel Hamlin of Bloomfield.
John David was preceded in death by one son Richard Alan Hamlin; one granddaughter, Opal Dawn Hamlin, one sister, Brenda Bex; and his parents.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the hour at the Bloomfield Church of Christ.
Service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Bloomfield Church of Christ with Brothers Michael Kirby, Kenneth Long and Vance Hamlin officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Bloomfield.
The family wishes all donations be made to the Trent A. Hamlin Scholarship Fund at the Bloomfield State Bank, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
