Laurel A. Helms, 77, of Bloomfield, passed away Monday, Nov. 9, 2009 at Prairie Village Living Center in Washington.
Born Jan. 29, 1932 in Newberry, she was the daughter of William and Flora Zella (Wesner) Clark.
Laurel was a homemaker and a florist, a member of the Allen Chapel Methodist Church in Bloomfield and attended the United Methodist Church in Bloomfield.
Surviving relatives include: her husband, Donald L. Helms of Bloomfield; three children, Ronald (Pam) Helms of Pimento; Lynetta Thompson of Lyons and Bryan (Susan) Helms of Newburgh; five grandchildren, Laura and Amanda Helms, Donnie, Michael and Shawn Thompson; four great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Bailey, Elizabeth and Tommy Thompson; one step great grandson Evan Freeman; and one sister, Rose Mary Floyd.
Laurel was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Miller; one brother John Clark; and her parents.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and noon until the hour of service on Thursday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Burial will follow at Tulip Cemetery near Bloomfield.
Donations my be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer's Association.
