Simon Lloyd "Poppie" Wright, 75, of Linton, died Monday morning, Nov. 9 at his residence.
He was born in English on Aug. 14, 1934, the son of Simon and Alice (Waddle) Wright.
He retired as a General Motors master mechanic.
He is survived by his wife, whom he married, Oct. 4, 1952, J. Louise "Mommom" (Freeman) Wright of Linton; three sons, Steve (Susie) Wright of Linton, Mark (Dawn) Wright of Fredricktown, OH, and Eddy (Cathy) Wright of Boelingbrook, IL; three daughters, Judy (Ed) Crosley of Jasonville, Julie (Chris) Corbin of Linton and Laura (Dale) LaRoche of Linton; four sisters, Mary Howe of Orleans, Geneva Slayton of Huron, Tanya Sietze of Milltown and Starlynn Terrell of Mitchell; three brothers, Jim Wright of Paoli, Clois Wright of Georgia and Phillip Wright of Cusco; 26 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant great-granddaughter; four sisters, Nova Speedy, Estel Gilmore, Oris Able and Nadine Sanders; and four brothers, Ernest, Charles, Frank and Roy Wright.
Funeral service will be conducted at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 11 a.m. Thursday with Chaplain Randy Vandeventer officiating.
Burial will follow at Morris Chapel Cemetery in Greene-Sullivan State Forest.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
