Lowell Mason Riley, 94, of Springville, passed away at 12:52 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009 at Bloomington Hospital.
Born Sept. 5, 1915 in Greene County, he was the son of James Walter and Nellie (Shelton) Riley.
He was a retired carpenter for NSWC Crane and a member of the Hobbieville Methodist Church. He was a World War II veteran with the United States Navy.
Surviving relatives include: his children, Judith Combs of Bloomfield, Lanny Riley (Harriet) of Columbus, and Rodney Riley (Maria) of Bloomington; one sister, Maxine Pearson of Columbus; grandchildren, Jeff Riley and Lana Clancy both of Columbus, Roger Riley of Hobbieville, Mark Riley of Harrodsburg, Cheryl Dunigan of Spencer, Deanna Jewell of Bloomfield, Dean Bland of Hobbieville and Kimberly Robertson of Bloomington; one step grandchild, Olga Raigosa of Columbia, South America; 10 great-grandchildren, seven great-great, grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren and step great-great grandchildren; and his former wife, Wanda Loretta Foddrill of Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Riley.
Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. David Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Carmichael cemetery in rural Bloomfield. Military services will be conducted by Solsberry American Legion Post #450.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 1 hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.
