Thanks for helping

with Trivia Bowl

To the Editor:

Many of you have heard the saying "It takes a village to raise a child," well I believe it takes a community to support a non-profit organization.

Our community came together last Saturday to support the Greene County Literacy Coalition in their efforts to raise funds through the sixth annual Trivia Bowl. Eighteen teams were represented by community members, banks, business members, teachers, lawyers, television personalities and others from all walks of life.

Congratulations to the Friends of the Knox County Public Library who were the winners. Goddesses of the Crossroads were the runners-up. McFly and the Doc Browns took home the prize for the costume portion of the day.

I would like to thank our team sponsors: Applied Logistics Services, Ken and Mae Nocus, Rowe Law Firm, Linda Bedwell, Jacob Fish, Bloomfield State Bank, Vincennes University, Right to Life, Knox County Public Library, Worthington Tri Kappa, Richard Brown Insurance, WTHI and Jack Terrell.

Refreshments were provided by volunteers, Subway (Linton), Angell's Food Center and Bloomfield IGA. Saron Church in Linton provided our venue and Bloomfield School let us use its buzzers. Prize coordinator was Valerie Abshire and donations of prizes were provided by: Exclusively Pet, Inc., (Tiffany Legan), Francisco de Borja Coffee, Greene County Daily World, Angela Januzzi and Penguin Book Group USA, Jiffy Treet of Linton, Landlocked Music (Jason Nickey), Lyonesse Farms Honey, Half Price Books in Indianapolis, Holiday World & Splashin' Safari, Pizza Hut in Linton, Scholar's Inn Bakehouse in Bloomington, Scholastic Books, Starbucks Baristas, Twisted Limb Paperworks (Bloomington), Vera Bradley (Wooden Key Hallmark, Linton), Shawndra Miller, Mental Floss Magazine, Miranda Marsico and Indy Bloomz, plus authors Susan Jane Gillman, A.J. Jacobs, Ken Jennings, and Ammon Shea.
