Donald E. Lowery, 77, of Dugger, passed away at 12:12 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009 at the Shakamak Good Samaritan in Jasonville.
He was born in Illinois on Sept. 13, 1932 the son of Raymond Lowery and Verna Lowery.
He was a retired coal miner from Bicknell Minerals.
He was preceded in death by his parents, also one brother, Jim Lowery, and one sister, Judy Tate, and Aunt Ethel and Uncle Frank Kell.
Survivors include: his wife, Lillian Laverne Drake Lowery; two sons, Donnie Ray Lowery (Sandy) of Oaktown, Douglas Everett Lowery of McLeansboro, Ill.; two step-sons, Kenny Rogers of Beaumont , Tx, and Tim Rogers (Michelle) of Fort Stewart, Ga.; one step-daughter, Dicie Frey (Larry) of King, N.C.; six grandchildren, Melissa, Douglas, Brittany, Dirk, Ariel, and Dakota; three step-grandchildren, Stephen, Kevin, and Ashley, one great-grandchild Brianna, and one step great-grandchild Madyson; a sister and brother in-law Bev and Gary Thompson, Aunt Pauline Patton; and special cousins Ron, Sissy, and Punky.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger with Bro. Bryan Sluder and Bro. John Sullivan officiating.
Burial in the Dugger Cemetery.
