John Alden Beasley

John Alden Beasley, 88, of Odon, died at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009 at Parkview Village.

Born Sept. 17, 1921 in Daviess County, he was the son of Harley H. and Minnie (Riggins) Beasley.

He married Mary Margaret "Mag" Bullock on Feb. 2, 1946 and she survives.

A 1940 graduate of Burns City High School, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS Beale.

He retired from NWSC Crane in 1974 and was a retired bus driver for the North Daviess School District. He was a charter member of the Raglesville Lions Club and was a member of the Loogootee American Legion Post No. 120. He also served on the board of directors for the Daviess-Martin REMC.

John was very proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with them and friends. He was also proud of the years he served as a veteran of World War II.

Other survivors include: sons, David Beasley and Mark (Melody) Beasley, both of Odon; a daughter, Diane (Darrell) Byers of Bloomfield; grandchildren, Michelle (Scott) Helms, Lori (Frank) Lorenz, Jonathan (Amanda) Britton, Adriane Beasley, Meridith Beasley, Aaron Byers, Michelle (Russell) Brown, and Nicole (Derrick) Tennant; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Calvin (Betty) Beasley and Ronnie (Diane) Beasley, of Odon; a sister, Camilla Overton of Odon; and sister-in-laws, Coy Beasley and Dixie Beasley both of Odon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Alice (Taylor Smith) Beasley; an infant son, Robert Eugene Beasley; brothers, Halman Beasley, Wallace Beasley, Gary Beasley and John Edwin Taylor; sisters, Gertude Kemp, Ava Gee, Irene Sims and Geraldine Harris.

Service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church in Odon wiht Brother Richard Smith officiating. Burial will be in Raglesville Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Odon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Raglesville Cemetery Fund or Parkview Village Christian Care Assisted Living Center.

Arrangements are being handled by Poindexter-Hall & McClure Funeral Home in Odon.
