Nelda J. Phegley-Anderson-Hallaway, 69 of Plainfield and formerly of Linton and Bloomington, died at 7:56 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 27, 2009 at Bloomington Hospital.
She was born in Linton on March 10, 1940, the daughter of Melvin and Eunice (Elgan) Hayes.
She worked for the city of Bloomington as secretary to the mayor for several years, then as an apartment manager for Cardinal Apartments in Bloomington, until retirement.
She is survived by two daughters, Kim M. (Randall) McFarland of Bloomington and Kelly J. Bentley of Plainfield; two brothers, Melvin Hayes of Ruidoso, N.M. and Al King of Eugene, Oregon; grandchildren, Ashley M. Erb of Brazil, Emmily A. Kolinek of Bloomington, Nichole L. Bentley of Plainfield, Joshua L. Phegley of Bloomington, and Nicholas L. Bentley of Plainfield, and great-granddaughters, Shawnie Phegley and Nakyia Nixon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Neal Hallaway; a son, Terry Lee Phegley on Jan. 22, 2009, and her parents.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
