He was born Oct. 23, 1916, in Coal Valley, Ala., the son of Benjamin Bruce and Jenny Greene (Beaty) Hubbert. His step-mother was Mary (Cobb) Hubbert, and she raised him.
He worked at NWSC Crane in pyrotechnics. He studied engine mechanics and to be an electrician in the service. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Linton and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Christine (Cordes) Hubbert, two daughters, Betty Ruth (John) Gonzales of Alvin Texas and Elsie Jean (Chuck) Lynch of Linton, grandchildren, Lisa (Eric) Mathena of Texas, Mark (Teresa) Mathena of Virginia, Lori (Douglas) Miller of Terre Haute, Angela (Thomas) Chisholm of Nevada, David Lynch of Linton, and Kevin Mathena of Texas, three step-grandchildren, John Gonzales, Jr. of Texas, Darryl Brown of Texas, and Kristi (Joe) Duncan of Texas; 24 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, and an infant brother, Joseph Lewis Hubbert.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12 at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton with the Rev. Warren Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Lyons.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today and noon Saturday at the funeral home.
