Mae Kingan Sims Wiseman, 87 of Matthews, N.C., died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010 at Presbyterian Hospital-Charlotte.

Born in Linton on May 27, 1922, Mae was the daughter of the late Gilbert B. Sims and Zelma Zenana Holden Sims.

Mrs. Wiseman was a former member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Eastern Star and the Elks, all in Linton. Following her marriage to Charles Oren Wiseman, they moved to Indianapolis, where she was an active volunteer in the public school system and later went to work for the Department of Motor Vehicles. After retiring, Mr. and Mrs.. Wiseman moved to Largo, Fla., where they enjoyed their golden years. Following the death of her husband in 2006, Mae moved to Matthews and had been living with her daughter Janet.

Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Wiseman was preceded in death by her grandsons Tony Cummins and Chris Cook.

Survivors include her daughters Sharron Heacox and husband Robert of Linton, Janet Cook and husband John of Matthews, N.C.; grandchildren Michael Heacox and wife Susan, Chad Heacox and partner Stefanie Brashear, Jason, Erin, and Elizabeth Cook; and four great grandchildren Landyn, Andrew, Makenna and Jacob and her faithful friend Leo.

A gathering of family and friends will take place Sunday, Jan. 9th from 2-4 p.m. at Carolina Funeral Service & Cremation Center, 5505 Monroe Rd, Charlotte.
